Aero Beds for guests and traveling
A few years ago when I was moving long distance, I decided to sell my bed and buy an Aero Bed air mattress that would travel easily and - I hoped - not wreck my back until I had time to buy a new bed. The Aero Bed really surprised me: it’s not quite as good as a regular mattress, but as I procrastinated on buying a new bed, I slept on an Aero Bed for a couple of months without any back pain or discomfort. That makes it very adequate for guests, even if they’re staying several weeks. They’re also really easy to set up and take down, because they inflate within 1-3 minutes (depending on the size of the mattress), and deflate in about the same.
Aero Bed makes a variety of mattresses now. The one pictured is one of the more high-end ones: the AeroBed 49611 Premier Comfort Zone. It’s designed to be as good as a regular mattress. It’s got their special coil system designed to reduce uncomfortable pressure while keeping the mattress firm everywhere. When I consider how many of my spring mattresses over the years have developed sinkholes within just a few years, I wonder if the Aero Bed might actually be superior.
The All Terrain Air Mattress is designed for camping. It’s got coil support for your comfort, and the pump can be charged from a regular house outlet or by a car lighter. They also make a special size for small kids so they can sleep comfortably while taking up minimal floorspace. And then there’s the standard InstaSleep Full Size.
