Corner computer tower for $120
Computer towers are great if you have a computer and peripherals, but limited room for a desk. This Corner Computer Tower tucks into a corner, taking up even less wall space than a rectangular unit. There are tons of these available for $120 or less, or just a bit more, but the reasons I chose to highlight this one are:
- You can put your feet on the lower shelf on either side of the tower! So many computer hutches and towers cram some of your peripherals down there, and then I end up shifting uncomfortably in my seat because there’s nowhere to put my feet.
- The enclosed top shelf (under the printer) looks nicer than a completely open design to me – it looks more finished. Put some books in there, maybe a few knicknacks, or your digital camera or something, and that’s a nice touch. (Also, the panels behind the tower add to this “finished” look.)
- I like the color (cherry). A couple of years ago, everything was maple, maple, maple – yellowish wood doesn’t go with everything. This color is a bit deeper, allowing it to coordinate with more surrounding colors.
- The only thing I’d change about it is: I’d like to have a small foldout tray for the mouse to sit beside the keyboard. I just prefer having the keyboard and mouse at the same level, but maybe that’s just me – I’ve never seen a tower that had this (even though I know such keyboard trays are made, and you could probably buy one to attach in place of the keyboard tray that comes with this one). Still, that’s a minor quibble, since I use my mouse as little as possible.

[...] I’d love to buy a big, antique buffet and hutch for the imaginary dining room I don’t have. In a small apartment with only a breakfast nook, there’s just not room for a piece of furniture that big. Here’s an alternative: a corner buffet and hutch that looks old-timey, for an affordable $319. This corner style is not very common, and it makes all the difference when you’re trying to fit it into a small room (not unlike corner computer tower desks). [...]
