Make your desk or craft table more ergonomic with a footrest

Kensington Nonskid Surface Adjustable FootrestLast year, I was experiencing chronic back pain. I asked my doctor what might be causing it and what could be done. She suggested that, before we try a lot of X-rays and tests that might be inconclusive anyway, I get a slanting footrest for my desk. I’m on the short side, and if I sit where my hands can reach the keyboard comfortably, my feet don’t rest 100% on the floor. The footrest made all the difference.

This is also a good idea for crafting tables. If your feet don’t reach the ground, your body will thank you for making the ground meet them. And a level surface won’t do nearly as much good as a slanting one (in my experience, and according to my doctor).

Rolax Roller Ball Footrest, 17w x14d x5h, GrayThere are dozens of footrests available at various prices, but any of them will do the trick. Heck, any slanted surface you can put together will work, but you can also buy a readymade footrest pretty cheaply. This Kensington Nonskid Surface Adjustable Footrest is just $18.99. And if you want something a bit fancier, the Rolax Roller Ball Footrest has rollerballs to massage your feet, and it’s just $29.99.
