You Can Never Go Wrong With White
You might be used to thinking of white as the most boring decorating color – the one landlords always seem to choose in order to be as bland and generic as possible. It’s true – white can get overwhelming and dull. But used as an accent color or a base color for accent colors, the effect of white is very different.
The white duvet
White duvets have a clean, minimalist look that might be too impersonal for a home. But add some colorful pillows or rugs around the base of the bed, and you can achieve a warm, inviting look that’s very sophisticated and modern. Another place to have some color is your headboard. Warm wood tones or colorful quilted frames can light up an otherwise white room.
Earth-toned colors are fantastic with white. Russets, coffees, sages and burnt oranges look fantastic against whites. So do pale shades of blue with green, and even pale yellow if you get the right shades.
The very best contrast to a white room is dark flooring. Whether you use dark wood or carpet, the effect of the contrast is stunning. Dark furniture can also enhance this effect, as can dark wood frames for artwork.
Making rooms look larger
Another great advantage of decorating with white is that it reflects more sunlight and makes small rooms look larger.
